A tree, a place of rest, a place of shelter from the heat of the day or the bitter weather. The tree is central in the human psyche in many cultures as a place where we can pause, rest and contemplate life, its height signalling from a far.

A bench is an object in space intended to give us the same place to rest, but in an urban landscape the low-lying bench can be lost, obscured by people, vehicles and daily life. The proposal intends to use the height and presence of the tree to signal a place of rest with the bench providing the place of rest and the footing for the tree.
